Portable toilet hire: the questions to ask

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Before contacting portable toilet providers,  identify any special needs you’ll have to provide for.

How many toilets will be needed? This depends on how long your event will run and how many people are attending.  You will want to avoid  long queues if you want people to stay. Ask the portable toilet hire company for their suggestion on units needed, and average out the answers. This will help optimise yours costs and not have you buying too many or too few.

You will want to check the portable toilets are well ventilated and deodorized.

Also ask who cleans and restocks the units?  If it’s your own staff  who will be  replacing toilet tissues and hand sanitizers ,  use this to negotiate lower maintenance costs. How often will you need the toilet cleaned, and at what level?  You need to know if  they pump, pressure wash, wipe down and sanitize.  If a person or organisation blocks the access point because they want to use it as a car park, will you be notified ?

A further question would be to ascertain  if the portable toilets are handicap accessible.Taking the time to answer all these points will make for a far smoother event and lessen the chances of problems occurring on the day.
